Melinda Dransfield - Director
Melinda Dransfield graduated from The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts [WAAPA] – firstly in Stage Management in 1997 and then in Acting in 2005. Melinda was then fortunate enough to study at the Atlantic Theatre in New York in 2011 which saw her connect with notable directors and actors.
She has worked as an actor and voice artist throughout Australia as well as producing her own theatre work. She held the lead role in the stage play Love Child which toured throughout Australia and has performed in Perth Theatre Company, The Old Fitz and Black Swan Theatre Company seasons. Along with stage work she has also done numerous TVC’s representing companies such as Payless Shoes, Disney, Foxtel and ATAS. “It is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together”

Melinda has taught for the NIDA Open and Corporate Programs and Australian Theatre for Young People [ATYP] for over 6 years, developing insightful content and workshops to engage individuals from ages 5 - 75.
Along with a performance career, she has also worked as a stage, company, tour and production manager for Andrew Kay, CDP, Ben Gannon, Illbijerri/Black Swan & Perth Theatre Companies and Perth International Arts Festival to name a few. Her scope of employment is diverse and includes product launches, live concerts, festivals and events both nationally and internationally. One of Melinda’s most significant employment opportunities has been as a Senior Stage Manager at the Sydney Opera House for the last 5 years.
Through this course of work, Melinda has had the opportunity to work with significant actors, performers, musicians, presenters and companies from around the world. This has formed the very basis for The Art of Speaking given her involvement with working with such top tier individuals and organisations.
On a personal note, Melinda is passionate about people. What makes them tick, what inspires them, how they connect and how people seek to continually improve. From doing a best man’s speech to presenting a new vision for a brand, Melinda sees communication and being impeccable with your word as a very core foundation in defining who you are.
